#FindsFriday: 2nd Century AD "Poppyhead" beaker, Iwade
It's #FindsFriday!
For the last #FindsFriday of the year, before the office closes for Christmas we have this lovely 2nd Century AD "Poppyhead" beaker found during excavations at Iwade by Alec Miles.
Currently, we have one volunteer completing initial cataloguing of the Alec Miles collection which was passed to the society upon his death. Once catalogued we will scour the archives for reports and written records documenting the collection as not all of the pottery has been marked.
This will hopefully provide us with not only a better understanding of the collection and how it was excavated, but will allow us to work towards full digitisation of the extensive pottery record and thus, creating an excellent resource for students and archaeologists.
Stay tuned for more!
