Get involved in uncovering creek-side life in 19th century Faversham, Saturday 24th May – Sunday 1st June, from 10am daily.
The Faversham Creek Trust & Kent Archaeological Society will be undertaking a 9-day community archaeological investigation of the Front Brents. Members of the Faversham Society Archaeology Research Group (FSARG) will also be assisting throughout the project and sharing their knowledge of the local archaeology.
We will be joined by Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA)'s Coasts in Mind Project on the 28th and 29th May and the 1st of June. Coasts in Mind will be interested in hearing your memories of life along Faversham Creek and the wider Swale Estuary.
All are welcome – come along and find out how to get started on an archaeological dig!
The open land adjacent to The Albion Taverna, a 19th century pub, was formerly the site of tenement buildings along both Front Brents and Church Road. The community investigation running throughout the Faversham Society’s Open Faversham Festival from Saturday 24th May – Sunday 1st June will seek to uncover the foundations of these properties and reveal evidence of the occupants who once called them home.
Updates will be shared on all of our social media channels as well as the KAS website. You can find out more about Open Faversham on their website: https://openfaversham.info/
