Welcome from the Editor

[pg2]Welcome to Issue 121 of the KAS Magazine. We hope you enjoy this edition, which explores the ongoing research and activities related to the county’s heritage. However, we also pay tribute to some of those who have passed away, and we would like to express our deepest condolences to those affected by these losses. We hope the new discoveries and important research featured in this issue, alongside the gratitude and memories of those now departed, will provide some comfort and inspiration. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to preserving our shared heritage.

We are excited to publish our second digital edition of the Magazine, which offers many advantages in terms of accessibility and opportunities in the digital realm. However, we acknowledge that some of our members may prefer a physical copy of the Magazine, and thus, we are currently seeking sponsors who can help us cover the printing expenses.

Secondly, the Society has a new Management Team, and we have included a complete breakdown of their roles and contact information in this issue of the Magazine. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with any member of the Team.

Thirdly, the Society’s website is undergoing a major upgrade, introducing a new design and exciting features by the end of January 2024.

Lastly, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Clive Drew, who will be stepping down from his role as General Manager by the end of 2023. As his successor, I am deeply honoured and grateful for this opportunity. Under Clive’s leadership, the Society has undergone significant transformation, enabling us to take strides towards fulfilling our commitment of bringing the past to the present for everyone. There is much still to do, but in the coming year, we will be introducing several new initiatives which will be communicated to all members through our various channels, including the Magazine, e-newsletters, social media platforms, website, Arch Cant, and the VeryConnect membership system.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2024.

Best wishes,
Richard
