An interesting update for #TechTuesday. Some interesting results from a recent LiDAR drone survey carried out on Lees Court Estate as part of #LCE24.
#LCE24: Canterbury Oast Trust (COT)
It was a great day today welcoming members of the Canterbury Oast Trust (COT) to Lees Court Estate! The visit was organised by The Enabled Archaeology Foundation as part of their ongoing work increasing access to archaeology for disabled participants.
#LCE24: Visit from Maidstone Museum
We had a great day on site today at #LCE24! Many more updates to come on our visit from The Enabled Archaeology Foundation, but we were also joined by members of Maidstone Museums who came and helped clean up the Mound ditch. They even recovered some pottery & worked Flint!
The Winckelmann Cup
In a wonderful, adventurous year of Society firsts, 2024 sees the Kent Archaeology Society qualifying for archaeology’s answer to the UEFA Champions League.
New Maidstone Museum gallery opening soon
The new Maidstone Museums gallery which the society has been proudly supporting and advising on is soon opening. One of the highlights will be the story of #Eastrylady excavated by Canterbury Archaeological Trust!
#FindsFriday Lees Court pot washing
It's #findsfriday and on such a bright and sunny day the conditions are perfect for #potwashing! This large lump of mud was hiding a beautifully decorated piece of #Mortlake #neolithic pottery dating from c. 3350 - 2900/2700 BC.
Faversham Museums Together
The diverse heritage groups in Faversham have joined together as Faversham Museums Together around the concept of a Heritage Hub to jointly develop a GIS-based platform to present the heritage of the town and that of the Faversham Hundred, reflecting the significance of Faversham’s rural hinterland and the sea.

New KAS Van
The Society officially has its own branded van! The van allows the Society to bring equipment to site increasing the amount of tools we can use for volunteers, school visits, etc. It also saves us needing to hire expensive vans every season. Hopefully the new stickers will increase awareness of the county as we travel to sites, school visits and exhibitions.
