#FindsFriday: Roman paw print

It's #FindsFriday!

Our curator has been busy cataloguing more of the Lympne excavation archive from last year, and today's find shows the importance of a secondary sort off site.

This fragment of tile was found in a large bag of other Roman brick fragments, but when it was turned over we spotted this lovely little paw print!

Our curator is pretty certain that this paw is of the feline persuasion, but what do you think? Cat or Dog paw?

It's lovely to imagine this tile sat out in the sun drying, the tile-maker happy with their day's work to watch in horror as an animal curiously reaches out and leaves its mark over 2000 years ago!
