Lees Court Lithics

Yesterday society Curator Andy and #Lithics volunteer Angela headed back to Lees Court Estate to undertake the process of sorting out the flint assemblage so that they can be sent off for specialist analysis.

There were a remaining 130 trays which needed sorting with flint, bone and pottery seperated out. Together Andy and Angela have sorted through 68 trays (Image 4) with a remaining 63 trays ready to sort next week (Image 5 and 6). It was very interesting process seeing some of the material uncovered by our volunteers during this years excavations on the estate.

Stay tuned for more details about the ongoing post-excavation work and our plans to return to the estate in 2025.
