Brook Rural Museum Local Stories exhibition
The Society was proud to supply the University of Kent Special Collections and Archives team with a number of images of Kentish Hop Pickers for use in their free gallery exhibition with @brook.rural.museum: Local Stories: Memories of Hopping around Brook and Wye, Kent.
The free exhibition in the Templeman Library, University of Kent, Canterbury, CT2 7NU is being launched Friday 18th October between 6pm - 8pm. The exhibition is open to the public and further information can be found by scanning the QR Code below.
The society provided images from its Hop Pickers Mission. 1868 - 1960 collection.
This archive, donated to the society in 1996, describes the mission to hop-pickers in the Weald of Kent funded by the Reverend Joseph James Kendon in 1868 to meet the spiritual and temporal needs of the extremely poor people in the Goudhurst area.
